How to give Claude your brand file (Projects and Skills)
Add your brand file to a Claude Project as project knowledge, or upload it as a Skill. A project keeps the file in context for every chat inside it; a Skill lets Claude load your brand whenever a task needs it, in any chat.
Step by step
- Create a Project. Projects are available on every Claude plan; on the Free plan you can have up to five. Create one for your marketing.
- Add the brand file to project knowledge. Upload DESIGN.md to the project's knowledge. Claude considers it in every chat in that project.
- Or upload it as a Skill. The brandmarkdown pack includes the skill as one file, claude-skill-brand-….zip, next to DESIGN.md. Upload it as it is in Customize > Skills (+, Create skill, Upload a skill): no unzipping, no hidden folders. Skills are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise and need code execution turned on.
- Ask for the work. Try: "Draft our autumn offer email in our brand." Ask Claude to check the draft against the lexicon before you use it.
Claude Code
If you build your website with Claude Code, put CLAUDE.md and DESIGN.md in the project root. Claude Code loads CLAUDE.md in every session, and it points to DESIGN.md for the full rules.
