How to make ChatGPT use your brand colors and tone of voice
Write your brand down once in one brand file (colors with their jobs, fonts, how you write, words you avoid), add it to a ChatGPT Project, and start every marketing chat inside that project. ChatGPT then reads the same rules each time instead of guessing.
Step by step
- Get your brand on one page. List your colors with their role (background, text, main action), your fonts, three traits of how you write and a few word pairs: say this, not that. brandmarkdown reads these from your website and writes the brand file for you.
- Create a Project in ChatGPT. In the sidebar choose New project and name it after your business. Projects keep chats, files and instructions together, and they are available on the Free plan too (up to 5 files per project on Free).
- Add the brand file to the project. Upload DESIGN.md as a project file. It holds the full rules: colors, fonts, voice, lexicon and do's and don'ts.
- Paste the short version into project instructions. Open the project's ••• menu, then Project settings, and paste BRAND-SHORT.md. Instructions apply to every chat in the project.
- Ask for real work, then check it. Try: "Write a post about our Saturday opening hours, following our brand file." Check the words against your lexicon and ask for a fix if something slips.
What to expect
The brand file makes drafts start closer to your brand; it does not make the model perfect. Text follows rules well. Generated images follow colors and mood only roughly, and exact logos or fonts in images are not reliable, so place your real logo afterwards.
Without a project
On any plan you can paste BRAND-SHORT.md at the start of a chat. For custom instructions in settings use BRAND-CHATGPT.md from the same pack: it is written to fit the 1,500 characters of that field. A project is better because the full brand file stays attached.
